After installing Backup Magis on my new Vista (64bit) PC it gives the following error when trying to enter the key code:
"On Windows NT/2000/XP administrator privileges are required to enter your key code. Then all users of this computer can have access to this program. Log on as administrator or ask your system administrator complete the task."
I am logged on as Administrator and The last sentence of the error has been typed verbatim, it is the error that is gramatically horrific!

You see this message because even if you are logged on as administrator, Vista by default runs all applications without admin privileges. This feature is called user account control (UAC) and is enabled by default.

See this topic how you can run BM with admin privileges on Vista.
