It would be great if group names could be used as variables for target folders. Then one could build a default target that keeps groups organized in their own identifying subdirs without having to customize the target path for each one.

You can use something like

X:\Backup\%SOURCEPATH%

in "Default target folder" field under Settings tab. Then each new group you create will get this by default as target folder. And your group names will remain readable as before .
