under the logging options you have a make log and include file names. Is there anyway to have just errors or new or updated appear in the log, or do you have to have all 3? Might be a consideration for the future if you have to have all 3. Me personally, i do not care if it was a new file or updated, i am more concerned about what was missed to make sure it isn't an important file.

It will show all files that did not copy on any reason plus Windows error message that usually helps you to resolve the problem. Experiment with the program to see how it works exactly.

will it show which files didn't back up or just tell me there was an error?

Uncheck the Include file names option if you don't want to see new and updates files, but only errors listed in log file.
